Commercial Support Specialist

Loan Assistant I position provides support to the company’s bankers by servicing, maintaining and updating loan documentation and loan files. The position requires substantial interaction with new and current bank customers, both internal and external, and excellent customer service skills.

• Manage low to moderate volume and/or complexity of loans efficiently
• Coordinate preparation, review, and execution of loan documentation, ensuring compliance with bank policies
• Organize loan renewal workflow and follow up with clients, insurance agents, title companies, and attorneys for missing documentation
• Resolve exceptions and documentation deficiencies, managing outstanding exception items for compliance with Credit Policy
• Ensure accurate reporting and regulatory compliance for the bank
• Assist bankers in collecting financial data and maintain client phone/email communication to support overall client relationships
• Handle client-related services such as wires, NSF accounts, and overdrafts
• Monitor reports (e.g., past due, paid‑off loans, criticized assets, maturing loans) and proactively inform bankers of potential issues
• Coordinate with Portfolio Manager and CCFG to facilitate construction loan disbursements in accordance with bank policy
• Promote outstanding customer experience through prompt follow-up, proactive communication, proper etiquette, and professionalism
• Collaborate with ancillary departments (Loan Admin, CIS, Loan Review, Special Assets, Bank Card, Consumer Special Services)
• Provide retail support for commercial customers in certain markets (opening new accounts, performing account maintenance)
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

• Ability to read, write, analyze, and comprehend simple instructions, routine business correspondence, financial reports, and legal documents
• Ability to interpret procedure manuals, general business correspondence, and government regulations
• Skilled at managing problematic situations in a diplomatic manner
• Basic understanding of loan documentation, credit policy, and banking regulation
• Basic understanding of financial statements and their interpretation
• Basic knowledge of HMDA, CRA Community Development, and CRA Small Business Revenue
• Basic understanding and communication ability of the bank’s retail services and processes (in certain markets)
• High School Diploma or GED required; prior loan experience preferred
• Computer skills: MS Office; basic understanding of the bank’s operating systems (Lending Cycle, Argo, Synergy) or similar experience
• Certificates, licenses, or registrations not required
• Self‑starter, works independently, proactive, multitasks, punctual, and timely in task completion
• Training in communication, customer service, time management, critical thinking, and organizational practices
