Title:
Impact Leader I, College & Career Readiness (CCR)

Work Schedule:Part-time – non-exempt, generally scheduled up to 25 hours per week, Mondays – Friday, between 1:00 pm and 6:00pm. Training and youth workshops, field trips and events may be scheduled outside of this time.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

Working under the direction of their assigned Supervisor, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County (BGCMC) CCR Impact Leader I plays an essential role in helping youth succeed as they directly serve aspositive role models, mentors and activity leadersto diverse youth delivering an engaging, age-appropriate and outcome-driven program with specialized focus on middle school and high school readiness. Further, the BGCMC CCR Impact Leader I is responsible for contributing to the following key elements of positive youth development:

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITY:

Lead Activities & Assist with Planning, Evaluating Programming

  • Assist youth in homework after school supervision
  • Facilitate college and career readiness workshops for teens
  • Provide tutorial support to middle and high school students in math and other core subjects
  • Assist with tracking and reporting program participation and outcomes, recommending modifications to activities and programs that respond to youth needs and interests
  • Address youth behavior with a positive discipline approach that is fair, firm, consistent and kind; helping youth take responsibility/accountability for their actions accompanied with appropriate consequences
  • Assist with implementation of school day programming for teens
  • Ensure a culture of high expectations and frequent recognition of youth
  • Foster a safe, positive, fun and impactful Teen Pathway Center environment where 100-150 youth daily acquire a sense of belonging, competence, usefulness, power and influence
  • Tutor 9th-12th grade science, math, technology, literacy, and reading
  • Assist with SAT/ACT Preparation and college advising; and implement BGCA programming; college preparation, life skills, workforce readiness workshops and organize college tours
  • Manage monthly case management and maintain compliance with designated CCR members
  • Demonstrate mastery of classroom management
  • Address youth behavior with a positive discipline approach that is fair, firm, consistent and kind and helps youth take responsibility for their actions with appropriate consequences
  • Perform other duties as assigned in alignment with fulfilling the primary function of position
  • Provide support to other program departments (ie. Education, SFR, Technology etc.) as needed
  • Serve as role model to youth exemplifying the pillars of Good Character & Citizenship
  • Serve as a mentor to guide youth through personal and educational challenges
  • Demonstrate integrity, sound judgment, respect for others, and a strong commitment to the positive development and well-being of youth
  • Model appropriate behavior, professionalism, responsibility, and respectful communication at all times
