Personal Financial Counselor, PFC- Presidio of Monterey, CA

This position provides personal financial services at assigned military installations. The role involves delivering a full range of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families, including one‑on‑one counseling, leadership briefings, workshops, and referrals. The counselor works closely with installation and military branch Points of Contact to ensure program scope aligns with installation needs.

• Provides personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
• Assists service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
• Develops and makes available informational financial materials to service members and families.
• Coordinates, publicizes and delivers Personal Financial Management classes/workshops on a variety of topics across the military lifecycle (arrival, pre‑ and post‑deployment, personal and career events).
• Responds to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
• Utilizes virtual counseling or other electronic communication modes (web‑based, secure chat, video) per OSD FINRED Program office authorization.
• Manages duty‑to‑warn situations per DoD protocol.
• Communicates with leadership, participates in regular supervision, and shares trends and issues.
• Participates in regular in‑services, training, quality‑improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree required; associate degree plus 4 years experience or high school diploma plus 6 years experience may be considered.
• 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
• U.S. citizen, fluent in English; bilingual in English and Spanish if required.
• Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
• Must pass the Congress‑mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest process.
  
  Must hold one of the following certifications:
  Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

Salary Maximum: $93,500
