Position SummaryUnder the general direction of the Associate Director of Operations and Outreach, the Assistant Director of Housing Operations (ADHO) provides strategic leadership for housing operations, occupancy management, customer service, and conference housing while leading a team committed to operational excellence, innovation, and student success. Working collaboratively with campus partners, the ADHO develops systems and processes that support student belonging, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement while advancing the mission of Student Housing and Residential Life at California State University, Monterey Bay.
Key Responsibilities- Provide leadership within Operations to promote and facilitate a student-centered organizational culture.
- Directly supervise, train, develop, and evaluate full-time professional staff members (Operations Coordinators).
- Provide direction and oversight for all occupancy management functions.
- Provide managerial leadership of SHRL front desk operations on Main and East Campus.
- Ensure that logistical planning and support for summer housing groups, including check-ins and readiness, is completed.
- Provide oversight for resident check-in/check-out operations for the academic year and summer.
- Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university in Student Personnel, Student Affairs, or a related field that includes experience with residential education, operations, or occupancy management; a minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible post‑graduate professional student services work experience managing and coordinating a Student Housing and Residential Life program.
- OR a combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities, with up to 2 years of the required experience substituted for additional education within a related field.
- Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated supervisory and leadership experience.
- Demonstrated experience working with occupancy projection models.
- Additional experience as live‑in staff is highly desirable.
- Ability to develop cooperative relationships with other university departments.

- Position is a sensitive position with authority to commit financial resources of the university through contracts greater than $10,000, access to or control over cash, checks, credit cards, and to building master or sub‑master keys for building access; access to controlled or hazardous substances.
- Access to and responsibility for detailed personally identifiable Level 1 confidential information about students, faculty, staff or alumni protected by CSU Information Security Data Classification Standards.
- Control over campus business processes, either through functional roles or system security access.
- Compliance with FERPA confidentiality requirements and California Educational Code Chapter 13 regarding sensitive student issues.
- Designation as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) required to participate in Clery Act training and promptly report alleged reportable crimes.
- May require occasional evenings and/or weekend work.
- Position designated as a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act.
