Middle School Cross Country Assistant Coach

Job DescriptionSeaside Middle School is seeking a team-oriented professional who will assist in administering the cross country program under the leadership of the Head Coach and Athletic Director. Responsibilities will include coaching and providing direction to student athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork. Additional duties as may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications- Cross Country experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Criminal history clearance (background check and HB 2062).
- CPR and First Aid certified.
- NFHS Coaching Education certified.
- Three years or more of head coaching experience preferred.
- Computer/technology skills desired.
- Spanish speaking skills desired.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the varsity and junior varsity teams.
- Select, manage, educate, and evaluate assistant coaches for the program.
- Follows and maintains knowledge of District policy(ies) and procedures relevant to this position.
- Instructs and demonstrates skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team achievement.
- Ensure a certified coach is present at all practices and contests.
- Ensure proper storage, maintenance and inventory of all athletic equipment and uniforms is adhered to.
- Travel and supervise student athletes on the team bus both to and from contests.
- Adhere to all financial policies of the District in regard to collection and disbursement of money, expenses, and receipts.
- Maintain necessary records and complete required paperwork in a specified time and manner.
- Enforce discipline policies and emphasize sportsmanship and healthy lifestyles.
- Supervise students in locker rooms at home and away contests and ensure appropriate behavior.
- Ensure appropriate rules and regulations regarding the conduct and eligibility of athletic activities and athletes are explained and followed.
- Maintain a safe environment and facilities for student athletes at all times.
- Ensure medical and safety requirements are adhered to.
- Complete District injury report for any student injured within 24 hours, even if student athlete does not see physician.
Starts fall season of school year. Salary as per negotiated contract, $2,875–$3,110 per season. Open until filled.
