The Senior Pharmacy Technician (Acute Care Tech III) is responsible for advanced pharmacy operations including medication dispensing, order processing, and maintaining automated dispensing systems. This role supports pharmacists and clinical teams by ensuring safe, accurate, and timely medication delivery within a hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities- Fill and dispense unit dose, oral, and IV medications accurately
- Process and triage medication orders efficiently
- Maintain and manage Automated Dispensing Systems (ADS/ADM)
- Support pharmacy operations across nursing units and departments
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with medication safety standards
- Assist in maintaining inventory, stock medications, and supplies
- Utilize electronic health records (EHR) for medication management
- Support pharmacists with clinical and operational tasks
- Apply advanced knowledge in specialty pharmacy areas
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards
- High School Diploma or GED
- Oregon Pharmacy Technician License or Certification (required upon hire)
- Minimum:
- 2+ years pharmacy experience (with PTCB certification) OR
- 3+ years hospital pharmacy experience (without PTCB)
- Experience with Automated Dispensing Machines (ADM/ADS)
- Experience working with EHR systems
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations and medication dispensing
- Experience with acute care / hospital pharmacy environments
- Understanding of unit dose and IV medication preparation
- Attention to detail and medication safety focus
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Graduate of a Pharmacy Technician Program
- PTCB Certification (preferred)
- Advanced PTCB certifications:
- Sterile compounding
- Medication history
- Controlled substances
- Specialty certifications (e.g.,
ACPE sterile compounding
)
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Patient safety and compliance
- Team collaboration
- Time management and efficiency
- Technical and operational expertise
- High School Diploma (Required)
- Pharmacy Technician Program (Preferred)
- Role is part-time, day shift in a hospital setting
- Requires hands-on experience with ADMs and EHR systems
- Focus on acute care pharmacy operations
- No travel required
