Position Summary

Rasmussen Capital Management, Inc. is seeking a motivated and professionally polished Retirement Plan & Business Development Associate to help expand and support our retirement plan consulting and advisory practice.

This position combines business development, prospect research, relationship management, and retirement plan support. The associate will identify prospective business clients, research their existing retirement plans, contact company decision-makers, schedule qualified meetings, and assist with the preparation and follow-up of retirement plan evaluations.

The ideal candidate has one to three years of experience in financial services, retirement plans, employee benefits, business development, banking, accounting, insurance, or a related professional-services environment.

This position provides an opportunity to work directly with the firm’s President and CEO while developing specialized knowledge of 401(k), profit-sharing, defined benefit, and cash balance retirement plans.

This is a full-time, in-office position located in Sea Tac, Washington. It is not a remote or hybrid position.

Primary Responsibilities Business Development
  • Identify privately held companies and organizations that may benefit from retirement plan consulting and advisory services.
  • Research prospective employers using publicly available sources. , including Form 5500 filings, company websites, professional directories, regulatory databases, and business publications.
  • Identify company owners, CEOs, CFOs, controllers, human resources executives, retirement plan committee members, and other decision-makers.
  • Conduct professional outreach by telephone, email, Linked In, and other approved communication channels.
  • Introduce prospective clients to the firm’s retirement plan consulting, business valuation, and advisory capabilities.
  • Schedule qualified introductory meetings for the President and CEO.
  • Maintain a consistent prospecting, follow-up, and relationship-development process.
  • Build and maintain an organized pipeline of prospective retirement plan clients.
  • Help develop relationships with CPAs, attorneys, benefits professionals, payroll providers, third-party administrators, insurance professionals, and other centers of influence.
  • Represent the firm professionally at chamber events, business, industry, and professional networking events.
  • Assist with the development of prospecting campaigns, educational communications, and business-development materials.
  • Track outreach activity, responses, follow-up dates, and prospective opportunities in the firm’s customer relationship management system.
Retirement Plan Research
  • Review publicly available filings and other retirement plan information.
  • Gather preliminary information regarding plan assets, participant counts, service providers, plan expenses, investment options, and plan design.
  • Identify potential plan concerns or opportunities involving:
    • Investment selection and monitoring
    • Plan fees and revenue sharing
    • Fiduciary governance
    • Investment policy statements
    • Participant education
    • Employee participation
    • Employer contributions
    • Safe harbor plan design
    • Profit-sharing allocations
    • Cash balance plans
    • Defined benefit plans
    • Executive retirement and compensation strategies
  • Prepare prospect summaries, company profiles, meeting briefs, and preliminary plan-review materials.
  • Organize plan information for review by the firm’s President and CEO.
  • Assist with the preparation and presentation of retirement plan evaluation findings.
