Role Summary

The Senior Field Planning Specialist is a subject matter expert in maintenance planning embedded in the Seattle maintenance operation. As an individual contributor this role uses considerable judgement to perform aircraft maintenance planning in support of a safe working-environment to ensure the flight and maintenance operations are coordinated with the station shift leadership team.

Key Duties
  • Maintains strict standards of safety and compliance—this position has the responsibility, authority, and decision-rights to stop the operation (ground aircraft) for any safety or compliance related issue.
  • With minimal direction from leadership this position will coordinate all required resources (Technicians, Parts, Tooling, Parking and Ground time) to adjust and execute a successful maintenance plan for SEA Line Maintenance operations.
  • Works in multiple locations throughout the operational day in cooperation with the Shift Manager and Supervisors.
  • Represents SEA maintenance locations on daily conference calls.
  • Plans, schedules, and decides work priorities encompassing all areas of aircraft maintenance.
  • Minimizes aircraft downtime and maximizes schedule reliability by planning system‑wide aircraft maintenance in response to changes in the operation.
  • Analyzes aircraft routing changes.
  • Plans ground time for extended maintenance actions.
  • Plans labor hour workloads and balances facility capacity and capability.
  • Coordinates maintenance activities with operational leadership.
  • Manages operational aircraft swaps and recovery plans to maintain optimal system performance.
  • Takes initiative to develop solutions to expeditiously facilitate the urgent completion of Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, Fleet Campaign Directives, and Engineering Orders.
  • Leads daily conference calls—coordinating with Maintenance Control, Materials/AOG desk, Line Managers, and Inspection.
  • Supports line maintenance operations by balancing station workload, establishing task specific priorities, allocation of hangar capacity, and developing contingency plans for aircraft towing/remote operations.
Job‑Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required
  • 4 years of experience in the areas of maintenance planning, aircraft routing or aircraft and engine maintenance.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification.
  • Previous experience as an aircraft mechanic.
  • Strong computer skills—advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook).
  • Effective written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to make sound analytical decisions in a real‑time, fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and achieve results with limited oversight or guidance.
  • Able and willing to work weekends, holidays, and non‑standard shifts.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
  • Maintenance planning experience.
  • Knowledge of aircraft maintenance procedures and FAA regulations.
  • Computer applications experience with TRAX, Visops, Vismaint, Aerostrat, Tableau, Microsoft SQL.

$115,350 - $173,050 / year
