Job Overview
Radio Frequency (RF) Design Engineer – located in Sea Tac, WA. Hybrid workplace with regional travel. We are seeking an experienced RF Design Engineer to support a next‑generation air/ground communications program focused on designing and deploying large‑scale radio network infrastructure nationwide. This role plays a critical part in modernizing radio communications across hundreds of operational sites and supports mission‑critical aviation systems.
Key Responsibilities- Lead large‑scale radio network planning, including site surveys, RF configurations, rack layouts, and cable routing.
- Create site installation engineering packages, including detailed drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), installation steps, and schematics.
- Develop system design packages to support site preparation, procurement, and deployment.
- Perform requirements definition and system decomposition.
- Apply Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies for system modeling and documentation.
- Conduct engineering trade‑off analyses to support design decisions and system optimization.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams and junior engineers.
- Facilitate technical working groups and participate in design reviews.
- Collaborate with field engineering, deployment teams, and program leadership.
- Ensure designs align with program standards, engineering best practices, and operational requirements.
- Experience with RF engineering and radio communication systems.
- Hands‑on experience creating installation engineering packages (drawings, BOMs, schematics).
- Experience in systems engineering processes.
- Experience applying MBSE principles.
- Ability to perform technical evaluations and trade studies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Radio communication systems supporting telecommunications or aviation infrastructure.
- Site survey analysis and site engineering documentation.
- Experience supporting large federal or aviation programs.
- Familiarity with engineering tools such as SysML, UML, and CAD.
This role offers the opportunity to work on a highly visible, long‑term program that directly supports aviation safety and national infrastructure while gaining valuable experience with complex, mission‑critical systems.
Job Type & LocationContract to Hire position based out of Sea Tac, WA. Hybrid with regional travel.
Pay and BenefitsPay range: $55.00 – $65.00 per hour.
