If you are a current law enforcement officer who does not meet time-in-service requirements for Certified Entry Level, you may qualify to test as an Exceptional Entry candidate.
Responsibilities (selected)- Performs investigative tasks, evaluates cases, collects and preserves evidence, interrogates suspects and questions witnesses.
- Enforces traffic and parking regulations; directs traffic; investigates traffic accidents and prepares reports.
- Determines when searches, seizures and arrests are warranted; may involve foot or vehicle pursuits.
- Performs judicial support activities including testifying in court and related duties.
- Assists in administrative and supervisory tasks, and public relations.
- Operates firearms per department rules; cleans and maintains firearms and vehicles.
- Patrols designated city areas by vehicle or on foot; completes special details and prepares reports.
- Writes reports and maintains daily logs; serves warrants and transports prisoners.
- Responds to citizen complaints and represents the department at public meetings on topics of interest.
Knowledge and Skills
