Procurement Operations & Process Improvement Specialist We are seeking an experienced Procurement Operations & Process Improvement Specialist to support a large, complex organization undergoing significant procurement transformation. This role will lead high impact initiatives focused on procurement compliance, Procure to Pay optimization, process improvement, and stakeholder adoption. The ideal candidate combines strong procurement operations experience with process improvement, change management, and the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels of an organization.
Key Responsibilities Increase spend under purchase order by identifying spend leakage, addressing process gaps, and improving purchasing compliance. Analyze invoice and PO match exceptions, identify root causes, and implement sustainable corrective actions. Partner closely with Procurement, Accounts Payable, Finance, and business stakeholders to improve Procure to Pay processes. Evaluate procurement workflows and recommend improvements to ownership, processes, escalation paths, and service expectations.
Develop and maintain SOPs, governance processes, reporting, and operational controls. Lead procurement process improvement initiatives from identification through implementation and adoption. Develop dashboards and performance metrics to measure compliance, adoption, and operational effectiveness. Create training materials, job aids, and Procurement 101 content for business stakeholders. Lead educational sessions and procurement roadshows designed to improve adoption through partnership and education. Communicate effectively with stakeholders ranging from buyers and operational teams through senior executives.
Qualifications 7+ years of experience in procurement operations, Procure to Pay, procurement excellence, supply chain, or related transformation roles. Demonstrated success leading procurement process improvement initiatives with measurable results. Strong understanding of indirect procurement and Procure to Pay processes. Experience improving spend under PO, purchasing compliance, or invoice match exception performance. Strong working knowledge of Accounts Payable and its relationship to procurement processes.
Experience developing SOPs, governance processes, training materials, and operational documentation. Strong analytical, problem solving, and stakeholder management skills. Proven ability to lead change and influence stakeholders without direct authority. Experience communicating with senior and executive level stakeholders. Familiarity with People Soft, Oracle, or similar ERP platforms preferred. Lean, Six Sigma, continuous improvement, consulting, or transformation experience is a plus. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a hands on procurement transformation professional who can identify operational problems, determine root causes, develop practical solutions, gain stakeholder buy in, and drive those solutions through implementation.
This is not a traditional sourcing or buyer position. It is best suited for someone with a background in procurement operations, procurement excellence, P2P transformation, or process improvement who can demonstrate measurable improvements in procurement performance. Pay Range: $60.00 – $68.00 per hour, depending upon experience. Health & Medical Benefits, 401K, Employee Assistance Program, and Sick Time applicable by state.
