Role Summary

The Inflight Duty Manager serves as the subject matter in Inflight operations in the Network Operations Center (NOC), bringing specialized Inflight expertise to support operational decision‑making. This role responds to current, contingency, and emergency operational events and serves as a central resource for Inflight‑related matters impacting the operation. As an individual contributor, this role exercises considerable judgment to make decisions regarding working with the Network Director, Flight Operations, Crew Scheduling, hotel and ground transportation services, Security and all other operational stakeholders to positively impact flight attendants and sustain an on‑time, safe operation around the clock, year‑round.

Key

Duties
  • Serves as the Inflight Duty Manager (IFDM) in the Network Operations Center, representing Inflight Services as part of the airline's operational control team.
  • Leads Inflight operational response during irregular operations, emergencies, crises, and other operational disruptions.
  • Makes operational decisions on behalf of Inflight leadership and provides support to flight attendants and leaders outside normal business hours.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert on the Flight Attendant Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), company policies, Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), and inflight procedures.
  • Ensures contractual, regulatory, and operational compliance while supporting safe and efficient airline operations.
  • Partners with Operations, Flight Operations, Crew Scheduling, Maintenance, and other stakeholders to resolve operational issues and maintain service continuity.
  • Responds to incidents and accidents in accordance with company emergency response plans, including serving as the Inflight on‑scene representative when required.
  • Participates in strategic initiatives, operational projects, training, and continuous improvement efforts to support Inflight Services and company objectives.
  • Demonstrates strong operational expertise by leveraging Crew Management and Departure Control Systems, analyzing operational data, and supporting informed decision‑making, crew scheduling, and irregular operations.
  • Communicates effectively across teams while actively supporting inflight operations, including volunteering for travel assignments to ensure crew performance, training, operational continuity, and adaptability during high‑impact situations.
Job‑Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required:

  • 4 years of experience in Inflight services, Inflight operations, Crew scheduling, or related airline experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree (optional with a focus in aviation management, business, or related field), or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Must be able to clear the pre‑employment DOT testing & background check process.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Ability and willingness to fly as a crew member as needed, including during irregular operations, and inclement weather conditions.
  • Ability to complete Alaska Airlines’ initial training/IOE, hold FAA flight attendant certificate, and remain qualified through recurrent training.
  • Expert in handling complex, high‑stakes operational scenarios, with a proven ability to implement scalable solutions and drive performance under pressure.
  • Extensive background in fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills—particularly Excel
