About the RoleXanfab is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with a working knowledge of AS9100 quality systems who is ready to build a career in aerospace and defense electronics manufacturing. In this role, you will help manage quality processes and collaborate closely with senior engineers on process documentation and production support. As your experience grows, you will take on increasing responsibility and expand your impact across the manufacturing organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Quality process ownership (AS9100) Own day-to-day quality processes in compliance with AS9100 requirements, including nonconformance (NCR) documentation, corrective action (CAPA) tracking, and internal audit preparation, escalating complex issues to senior engineers as needed.
- Process documentation and improvement Help develop, document, and maintain manufacturing work instructions, routers, and process documentation across PCB assembly (SMT, through-hole, hand solder) and related operations.
- Customer issue support Assist with root cause investigation and corrective action activities for customer-reported issues, gathering data and documentation under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Fixture and tooling support Assist senior engineers with basic tooling and fixture needs for production requirements.
- Shop floor support Provide day-to-day engineering support to production associates and technicians; help train associates on updated documentation, processes, and quality standards.
- BS in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in manufacturing, quality control, or a related technical role, with aerospace/defense electronics experience.
- Working experience of AS9100 quality systems, including nonconformance handling, corrective action, or document control (e.g., reviewing customer purchase orders or contracts for AS9100 flow-down requirements)
- Experience with quality control processes such as inspection, nonconformance reporting, or QMS documentation.
- Exposure to PCB assembly processes (SMT and/or through-hole) and familiarity with IPC-A-610 / J-STD-001 standards
- Basic ability to read and interpret PCB designs (ODB, BOMs, drawings), or a strong willingness to learn quickly.
- Regular presence on the production floor; ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift 25lbs (fixtures, tooling, equipment).
