Job Description & How to Apply Below

We’re partnering with a mission-driven multifamily property management organization that exclusively operates affordable housing communities nationwide. As the portfolio continues to grow, the firm is adding a Senior Property Accountant to support internally managed properties and help scale a high-performing accounting team.

This role is ideal for a hands-on property accountant who understands resident subledgers, compliance-driven accounting, and full-cycle financial reporting within a multifamily environment.

The Role

The Senior Property Accountant will manage the financial reporting and accounting functions for a portfolio of affordable housing properties. You’ll work closely with property managers, regional leadership, and the accounting team to ensure accurate reporting, strong controls, and compliance across the portfolio.

This is a newly created role designed to support growth and rebalance workload across the team.

What You’ll Do
  • Own full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of ~15 internally managed multifamily properties
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Reconcile resident subledgers and ensure accuracy between property systems and the general ledger
  • Perform month-end close activities, including bank reconciliations and accruals
  • Monitor cash flow and support timely payments and reporting
  • Partner with property managers and regional teams to resolve accounting issues
  • Support budget preparation and review
  • Assist with year-end audits and ongoing compliance requirements
  • Ensure adherence to LIHTC, HUD, and other affordable housing regulations
What We’re Looking For
  • 3+ years of experience in residential multifamily property management accounting
  • Strong understanding of resident subledgers and property-level financial statements
  • Experience in affordable housing (LIHTC / HUD) strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with property management accounting systems
  • Real Page / One Site preferred
  • Yardi, App Folio, or similar also relevant
  • Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable managing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to help improve and refine accounting processes as the team grows

Candidates with strong multifamily or real estate audit experience from public accounting may be considered if they demonstrate a clear interest in property accounting.
