EBDG is seeking an Accounting Specialist to work alongside our talented team! Under the direction of the Controller, the Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing a wide range of accounting and administrative tasks to support Elliott Bay Design Group's operations. The Accounting Specialist also supports clients of See Saw Services, a subsidiary of EBDG, Inc, in bookkeeping and administrative duties. This employee will demonstrate proficiency in applying established bookkeeping practices and office standards to perform their duties, while collaborating effectively with coworkers and clients on both internal and external projects.

Primary

Functions and Essential Responsibilities Accounting
  • Performs accounts payable functions including receiving and entering vendor invoices, processing payments, vendor management, 1099 filing, and vendor correspondence.
  • Reviews and posts weekly employee timesheets.
  • Accurately records financial transactions, including client payments, cash and AP disbursements, bank transfers, and other financial activities.
  • Generates invoices and prepares backup documents for submission to clients for payment.
  • Participates in month-end close activities, including journal entry postings, tracking assets and depreciation, and reconciliation of G/L account balances.
  • Supports staff with specialized accounting requests, including but not limited to collections, generating reports, job costing, and reviewing budgets.
  • Collaborates with other departments and team members to gather financial information and resolve issues with invoicing, AR, AP, and account balances.
  • Updates and captures documentation of accounting processes and process changes.
  • Provides support in other accounting duties such as payroll, expense report processing, and monthly and quarterly tax preparation, as needed.
Administrative
  • Conducts quality control reviews on internal documents and project deliverables in accordance with project and EBDG standards, by proofreading technical documents for spelling, grammar, and formatting.
  • Regularly monitors various company email inboxes to identify crucial correspondence requiring timely responses.
  • Receives and handles requests for shipping/receiving marketing materials, archived documents, and site equipment.
  • Assists project managers in updating and maintaining project information, plans, schedules, contracts, and client feedback.
  • Supports multiple departments within the organization by completing recurring tasks as well as special projects as requested.
Client Coordination and Customer Service
  • Communicates effectively with vendors, customers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintains client relationships through timely response and efficient and accurate delivery of tasks.
Learning
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements, implements best practices, and recommends changes as appropriate.
  • Seeks training opportunities and develops annual goals.
Requirements Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications, and Experience
  • Degree in accounting or business administration, or 5 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance roles preferred.
  • Effective knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite. Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint is highly preferred.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping and document review.
  • Proficient analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure and independently.
