Flying Bike is a community-centered, member-owned, Washington cooperative business located just north of 85th on Greenwood. We are looking for a bookkeeper /accountant to manage the organization's financial records by recording daily transactions, reconciling bank statements, recording month-end inventory, processing payroll, filing and paying monthly state taxes, and handling accounts payable/receivable. The accountant will ensure the accuracy of the general ledger in Quick Books Online to facilitate tax compliance and financial reporting.
Essential skills include close attention to detail, proficiency in math, and strong organizational abilities.
- Recording Transactions: Posting debits and credits, maintaining the general ledger, and tracking income/expenses. Counting, recording, reconciling, and depositing cash sales and tips.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Managing invoices, paying bills, and following up on client payments. (Most purchases are handled by debit card, so payment is limited to a few transactions, such as rent, insurance, etc.
- Bank Reconciliation: Comparing internal financial records with bank and debit card statements to ensure accuracy.
- Payroll Processing: Calculating employee wages, managing deductions, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Employee Onboarding: Onboarding new employees into payroll systems.
- Financial Reporting: Preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and assisting the Treasurer as needed with budgets.
- Tax Preparation: Organizing records for federal tax filings, and preparation and filing for all State and Local taxes and yearly entity filings.
- Experience: Previous experience as a bookkeeper or in a finance role.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with Excel is required;
Quick Books Online, Square, and Gusto online payroll are a plus. - Skills: High level of accuracy, strong communication, and integrity in handling confidential financial information. Experience in recording GL entries required, inventory accounting a strong plus.
- Estimated time required (flexible): Weekly, 1 – 5 hours of transaction recording, depending on transactions and payroll timing. Collection of documents from the taproom on at least a bi-weekly basis. Monthly close, requiring bank reconciliation, B&O tax filing, recording ending inventory levels (counted by the brew team), and reviewing and producing financial statements for the Board by the second Monday of the next month (when possible) – this monthly process is estimated at approximately 25 – 30 hours per month.
This position requires on-site presence for cash handling, bank deposits, and document collection; the individual must be added to the Verity account for authorized deposits.
