Our client in Seattle, WA is currently hiring for a Payroll Specialist. This position is a hybrid opportunity with two days onsite each week (Monday and Wednesday) and three days remote. The ideal candidate will have experience processing multi-state payroll, payroll tax filings, payroll reconciliations, and working within payroll systems such as Paylocity and Deltek Vantagepoint.

Pay - $35.00/hr. to $40.00/hr.

Location - Seattle, WA (Hybrid: 2 days onsite, 3 days remote)

Schedule - Monday and Wednesday onsite from 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, standard full-time schedule

Responsibilities

- Process monthly and semi-monthly payroll for approximately 200 employees in a multi-state environment.

- Review, approve, and post employee timesheets while ensuring accuracy and compliance with payroll policies.

- Coordinate with Human Resources regarding employee changes, new hires, terminations, and payroll deductions.

- Execute multiple payroll runs each month within established timelines.

- Process and reconcile payroll-related transactions with a high level of accuracy.

- Manage payroll tax filings, including 941 tax filings and related compliance requirements.

- Ensure timely payroll tax payments, returns, and benefit funding submissions.

- Support payroll system administration, including tax jurisdictions, earning codes, deduction codes, and reporting enhancements.

- Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries as needed.

- Support month-end and year-end close activities.

- Prepare payroll reports, compensation analysis, and related financial reporting.

- Maintain payroll records and documentation in compliance with company policies and regulations.

- Collaborate with Finance and Human Resources teams to improve payroll processes and reporting.

Qualification Requirements

- 3+ years of payroll processing experience.

- Experience processing multi-state payroll.

- Experience with Paylocity.

- Experience with payroll tax compliance and 941 tax filings.

- Experience with Deltek, preferably Deltek Vantagepoint.

- General Ledger (GL) experience including reconciliations and journal entries.

- Experience supporting month-end close activities.

- Strong understanding of payroll deductions, benefits administration, and payroll accounting.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

- Experience reviewing and reconciling employee timesheets.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred.

- Experience with in Architecture, Engineering, Construction (A/E/C) or other project-based environments is highly preferred.

Disqualifiers

- No experience processing multi-state payroll.

- No Paylocity experience.

- No experience with payroll tax filings or payroll compliance activities.

- No Deltek or Deltek Vantagepoint experience.

- Limited General Ledger or payroll reconciliation experience.

- Limited experience managing payroll for a workforce of similar size.

- Less than 3 years of relevant payroll experience.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Seattle, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
