We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to manage the company’s in-house payroll operations. This position will be responsible for accurately processing payroll for employees across multiple states, with a strong focus on union payroll
, compliance, and timely payroll administration.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing payroll internally from start to finish, be comfortable working with complex union pay structures, and have strong knowledge of multi-state payroll regulations

Experience with
Viewpoint Spectrum is highly preferred but not required.

Responsibilities
  • Process full-cycle, in-house payroll on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Manage payroll for employees across multiple states, ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Process union payroll
    , including various union agreements, wage rates, deductions, benefits, and reporting requirements.
  • Review and validate timekeeping, hours, overtime, PTO, bonuses, deductions, and other payroll inputs.
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records and resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Ensure proper calculation and payment of federal, state, and local payroll taxes.
  • Prepare and maintain union reports, certified payroll documentation, and other required payroll filings.
  • Partner with HR, Accounting, field operations, and managers to resolve payroll-related questions and issues.
  • Assist with payroll tax filings, reconciliations, audits, and year-end processes, including W-2s.
  • Stay current on changes to payroll laws, wage and hour regulations, and multi-state compliance requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee compensation and payroll information.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, accuracy, and efficiency.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of hands-on in-house payroll experience
    .
  • Strong experience processing union payroll
    .
  • Experience with multi-state payroll and knowledge of varying state and local payroll requirements.
  • Strong understanding of payroll taxes, wage and hour regulations, overtime, deductions, and payroll compliance.
  • Experience working with timekeeping systems and integrating payroll data.
  • Strong Excel skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
  • Viewpoint Spectrum experience is a strong plus.
  • Construction or other unionized industry experience is preferred.
Preferred Background

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented payroll professional who has managed complex, high-volume payroll in-house
, understands the nuances of union and multi-state payroll, and can independently own the payroll process from timecard review through final payroll submission and reporting.
