We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to manage and process payroll accurately and efficiently across multiple states. This role will be responsible for ensuring timely payroll processing, maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations, and providing support to employees and internal teams regarding payroll-related matters.
Key Responsibilities- Process accurate and timely payroll for employees across multiple states and jurisdictions
- Review and validate payroll data, including timekeeping, earnings, deductions, bonuses, and adjustments
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
- Maintain accurate employee payroll records and update payroll information as needed
- Prepare and reconcile payroll reports and payroll-related general ledger accounts
- Coordinate payroll tax filings, payments, and year-end reporting
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries
- Manage payroll-related onboarding, offboarding, and employee changes
- Assist with quarterly and annual payroll reporting, including W-2s and other required filings
- Stay current on changes to state and local payroll laws, tax requirements, and regulations
- Partner with Human Resources, Finance, and other internal teams to resolve payroll issues and improve processes
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and efficiency
- 2+ years of payroll processing experience
- Hands-on experience processing multi-state payroll
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Experience with payroll systems and HRIS platforms
- Strong Excel skills and experience working with payroll reports
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to handle confidential employee and payroll information
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and customer-service skills
- Experience with payroll tax filings and multi-state payroll compliance
- Experience with payroll reconciliations and general ledger accounting
- Experience supporting year-end payroll processes and W-2 reporting
- Experience with a high-volume or complex payroll environment
- Payroll certification such as FPC or CPP is a plus
