About The PositionThe Staff Accountant provides technical accounting support for the Accounting Department and is responsible for timely and accurate accounting, reporting and reconciliations.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Supports internal customer groups in all financial aspects of their business.
- Manages the purchasing and invoicing process for capital expenditures and fixed asset accounting tasks.
- Prepares period-end journal entries within scheduled deadlines for period close.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
- Completes period-end variance analysis and research discrepancies between actual and budgeted balances.
- Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts.
- Preparation of B&O/sales tax returns.
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of internal controls and identifies potential issues.
- Assists in the annual preparation of the organization’s budget.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
- Supports in preparation for ad-hoc analysis and special management reports.
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Identifies and participates in implementing process improvements.
- Cross-trains on other accounting responsibilities to provide backup support.
- Demonstrates safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety culture; reports any potential hazards or accidents.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education And Experience- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training/experience in accounting.
