Why This Opportunity Stands Out

Join a mission-driven nonprofit organization that partners with funders, grantmakers, and community organizations to support meaningful initiatives across the Northwest. As the senior accounting professional on the team, you'll play a key role in financial stewardship, grant compliance, audit coordination, and strategic process improvements. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with leadership, influence financial operations, and support programs that create lasting community impact while enjoying a collaborative and flexible work environment.

Key Responsibilities for the Senior Accountant role:

  • Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger management, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end/year-end close activities.
  • Prepare financial statements, board reporting packages, and supporting schedules to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Oversee accounting and compliance for federal, state, and privately funded grants, ensuring adherence to funding requirements.
  • Coordinate annual audits, Single Audit activities, regulatory filings, and maintain audit-ready financial documentation.
  • Review AP, AR, payroll, and banking activities while strengthening internal controls and identifying process improvement opportunities.

Qualifications for the Senior Accountant:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, month-end/year-end close, audit support, and grant accounting compliance.
  • Experience with federal grants, Single Audit requirements, and nonprofit accounting systems such as Sage Intacct, MIP, or similar platforms.
  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze financial data, maintain accuracy, and communicate financial concepts effectively to non-finance stakeholders.

If you're an experienced accounting professional seeking a role that combines financial leadership, grant compliance, and meaningful mission-driven work, we'd love to hear from you.
