Gary Merlino Construction Co., Inc. (GMCC) is a heavy civil construction and materials company operating across the greater Seattle area, with divisions including Stoneway Concrete, Kangley Rock & Recycle, and others. We're looking for a Senior Staff Accountant to support financial reporting and accounting operations across our family of companies.

The Senior Staff Accountant will play a key role in the monthly close process, financial reporting, and general ledger accounting across multiple divisions within the GMCC family of companies. This role is well-suited for someone with strong technical accounting skills who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-division construction environment. You'll get your hands in a little bit of everything, from Accounting to HR & Operations, as part of a lean, cross-functional accounting team.

• Prepare and post journal entries; perform general ledger reconciliations for assigned divisions
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
• Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules
• Assist with Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting and job cost analysis
• Reconcile intercompany transactions across GMCC's divisions
• Maintain and analyze fixed asset schedules and depreciation
• Support external audit and tax preparation requests
• Assist with sales/use tax and excise tax filings
• Identify and implement process improvements in accounting workflows
• Collaborate with project accountants, operations, and division controllers

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience; construction or job-cost industry experience strongly preferred
• Proficiency with Sage 300 CRE, or similar construction accounting/ERP systems a plus
• Strong Excel skills
• Solid understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting
• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
• CPA or progress toward CPA a plus, but not required
