Job SummaryThe Stormwater Services Section of the Water and Land Resources Division seeks an Administrative Specialist III to provide broad administrative support to the Section Manager, support staff, Unit Supervisors and unit work groups. Responsibilities include managing budget and financial requests, improving processes and procedures, and handling general administrative functions for the section. The role will lead the development of a cohesive records management structure, ensuring records are digitized, SharePoint/Teams file structures are maintained, and retention requirements are met.
Additional duties involve supporting enforcement processes and serving as backup for purchasing-focused tasks.
- Scan, name, and maintain documents related to Asset Management Unit (AMU) facilities and other section records.
- Serve as section SharePoint point of contact; perform complex work‑processing tasks such as mail‑merges, legal document production, updates of mailing lists, boilerplate documents, and detailed proofreading and editing.
- Assist in records coordination and management: sorting records, preparing for transmittal, and maintaining a log of records submitted.
- Assist with enforcement processes, including mailouts and tracking responses from property owners.
- Serve as backup for processing financial transactions as needed.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in an administrative or program support role, with at least two years focused on records management.
- Strong problem‑solving, work‑planning, and decision‑making skills.
- Experience working with technical staff to access records in electronic formats.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Familiarity with Public Records Act requirements (RCW 42.56) and Preservation and Destruction of Public Records (RCW 40.14).
- Knowledge of King County policies, procedures, and systems.
- Experience with records retention and management practices or familiarity with King County’s records policies.
The position uses a hybrid model. Work location is primarily at King Street Center, 201 S. Jackson St, Seattle, WA. The ratio of remote to onsite work may change based on business needs. Employees must reside in Washington state and be within reasonable distance to the worksite. A County‑issued laptop is provided; a reliable home workspace with internet is required.
Work Schedule:
Full-time, 40‑hour work week; position is covered under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is overtime eligible.
