Summary
King County Metro's Vehicle Maintenance Division is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to support our diverse Vehicle Maintenance workforce as a career service Technical Information Processing Specialist III (TIPSIII).

Responsibilities- Verify, prepare and process employee payroll entries in the maintenance work order system (M5) and King County’s payroll software (People Soft).
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive information.
- Enter work order data into a PC-based system to track vehicle maintenance history, workload and costs for component rebuilding; also enter data into the asset management system (M5).
- Determine validity, correctness, and completeness of data entered and collaborate with internal partners (such as Base Chiefs, Payroll, and Vehicle Maintenance Data Management team) to correct as needed.
- Maintain and prepare files and reports for auditing purposes.
- Assist in ordering office supplies, receiving materials, and checking them against purchase orders.
- Coordinate shipment of oil samples to third‑party laboratories for analysis.
- Use detailed computer programs to perform multiple‑step tasks with speed and accuracy.
- Answer phones, route calls, and take messages for staff.
- Maintain logs and file systems to organize and control records and information.
- Prepare letters, memos, and reports as requested or required.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Candidates must demonstrate increasingly responsible clerical experience that includes managing a high volume of data.
- Ability to establish and maintain respectful working relationships with a diverse group of co‑workers, colleagues, and internal/external customers and communicate effectively in person, via telephone, and e‑mail/ written.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ability to learn specialized software applications.
- Skill in running reports, queries, and managing data from various databases.
- Knowledge of and experience with document filing and records systems.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when handling sensitive information.
- Time management and prioritization skills.
- Outstanding attention to detail, and the ability to accurately manage and process a high volume of data.
- Any equivalent combination of experience and education necessary to perform the job duties.
- Experience or skill in managing work order/labor information in a vehicle maintenance environment.
- Demonstrated experience with computer application software like People Soft, SharePoint, or equivalent.
- Experience with King County and Metro Transit payroll, record keeping, inventory control, and/or auditing processes.
- Basic knowledge of Oracle Financial system, People Soft, or similar payroll systems, and/or M5 Fleet Focus System (work‑order system).
- Knowledge of Metro Transit policy & procedures.
- Demonstrates outstanding customer service skills that reflect King County Metro’s commitment to service excellence and an understanding of our True North and Values.
Washington State Driver’s License or the ability to travel to work locations throughout King County in a timely manner when public transportation is limited or unavailable.
