Position: Events Production Assistant (Temporary)

SALARY & FLSA

$21.30 - $28.12 per hour; FSLA non‑exempt. The $21.30 hourly starting pay may extend up to the $24.71 midpoint of the annual range, reflecting our commitment to offering competitive compensation to qualified candidates.

WORK SCHEDULE

June through August: 20‑30 hours per week. September and October: variable hours. November through January: 15‑20 hours per week. The role is expected to last from June or July 2026 (depending on candidate availability) to mid‑January 2027.

Experience with weddings or corporate events is a plus!

Your Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide direct onsite support for all production elements of the zoo's private and public events, such as concerts and other ticketed events, zoo tours, fundraising dinners, and event activations.
  • Act as the point of contact and facilitate vendor load in and load out.
  • Track event status and perform a variety of detail‑oriented tasks to ensure event preparedness, including conducting meetings with cross‑functional team leaders.
  • Meet event deadlines, projects and targets to keep to an event schedule; participate in problem solving event related issues.
  • Provide high quality customer service to guests and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Interact with staff, volunteers, sponsors, and vendors in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Perform general office duties such as composing correspondence, and maintaining event software, files, databases, meeting minutes, and reminders.
  • Responsible for set up and break down of equipment as needed.
  • Provide support for break schedules, crowd control, and responding to radio calls as directed by department leads.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with outdoor festivals, weddings, and corporate events.
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License is preferred.
  • The ability to speak a language other than English.
Qualifications
  • One (1) year certificate from college or technical school and six (6) or more months’ related experience and/or training in event planning; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint, working knowledge of Momentus event management platform is a plus.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills on the phone or in person with a diverse group of individuals and organizations.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to understand, explain, and enforce policies to on‑site staff, other zoo departments, and the general public in a clear and confident manner.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, and to learn and adapt quickly in a fast‑paced and changing environment.
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks and requests at one time.
