The King County Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention's (DAJD) Juvenile Division is seeking a highly proficient professional to join our team as an Administrative Specialist III. The position reports to the Juvenile Division Deputy Director and primarily supports two critical functions:
Training and Employee Engagement & Appreciation, playing an essential role in delivering trauma‑informed care within the facility.

Job Duties
  • Assist in the organization of New Employee Orientation, including preparing materials, tracking mandatory trainings, and scheduling conference rooms.
  • Provide administrative support to the training team, tracking attendance, ensuring access to online trainings, and maintaining training data.
  • Research, resolve, and recommend solutions for Training Unit issues.
  • Coordinate and facilitate employee engagement and appreciation events.
  • Create and distribute communications for division‑wide dissemination regarding training opportunities and events.
  • Prioritize assignments and complete tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Maintain and retrieve information using Microsoft Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Excel, and other systems.
  • Preserve security and confidentiality of sensitive communications.
  • Process payroll documents and enter data into the Roster Management System.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform related duties as assigned within the Administrative Specialist role.
  • Provide back‑fill support for critical functions such as payroll processing, supply orders, mail routing, invoicing, and other duties.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Four (4) years full‑time clerical experience, including one (1) year of high‑volume, complex administrative work.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and time‑management skills.
  • Desire to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Independent problem‑solving ability, anticipating issues before they arise.
  • Strong customer service skills and effective oral and written communication.
Ideal Candidate
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in high‑volume, complex administrative environments.
  • Experience supporting employee engagement and drafting communication materials.
  • Experience in a professional setting that serves youth and families.
  • Understanding of trauma‑informed care principles and ability to integrate them into duties.
Additional Requirements

Candidates may be required to complete skills testing.

Work Schedule

40‑hour work week; overtime eligible. Standard hours:
Monday‑Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Work Location

The position is located at the Patricia Clark Children and Family Justice Center, 1211

E. Alder Street, Seattle, WA.
