Work LocationInitial training will be at the King County Courthouse in Seattle. The regular worksite will be 724 West Smith Street, Suite 101, Kent WA 98032 upon office consolidation; the date is to be determined. Any change in the position or work group will be determined by the needs of the Family Support Division.
Work Schedule40‑hour work week, Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eligible for King County’s benefits package. Employees assigned to this position may work a hybrid schedule, allowing telecommuting with a minimum of three days in office per week, subject to business needs and a telecommuting agreement. New employees will be required to work in the office four days a week for the first six months.
SalaryRange:
Step 1 – $29.25 per hour, Step 10 – $37.08 per hour.
Positions in this classification are represented by Teamsters Local No. 117.

Materials will be reviewed for qualifications. The most competitive candidates may be invited to a panel interview. Current PAO employees represented by Teamsters Local No. 117 receive priority consideration.
Job Duties- Prepare, serve, and file modification petitions, including printing, copying, and mailing weekly batches of filing packages.
- Process motions, orders, and documents—copy, mail, scan, e‑file, and enter data in SEMS.
- Open new modification referrals from the Division of Child Support, setting up a physical file.
- Act as point person for emails, voicemails, and documents from parties involved in private child‑support actions, gather necessary information, assign cases to deputies, and maintain a spreadsheet of appearance cases.
- Assemble and file working papers for trials and hearings, including preparing binders for the court.
- Process and track green cards, including preparing and copying Certificates of Service by Mail, tracking service, filing with the court, and performing locate work when necessary.
- Associate incoming documents with files, update addresses in SEMS, repackage, and re‑mail documents.
- Provide regular support for reception functions: answering phones, handling in‑person customers, screening voicemails, and processing mail.
- Deal with sensitive or potentially volatile situations as needed.
- Work independently, be highly motivated, and collaborate with a team.
- Perform various other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of general office principles and practices; legal office experience or training helpful.
- Knowledge of legal procedures, alphabetizing, filing, and basic mathematics.
- Proficiency in proper English grammar, usage, and spelling.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment (computer, scanner, copier, mail machine, multi‑line telephone).
- Experience with e‑filing various electronic forms.
- Keyboarding skills.
