Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Reception-Administration Control Desk (RACD).
- Record maintenance and accountability, and enlistment processing, including fingerprinting of applicants.
- Greet and account for visitors/applicants in and out of the MEPS; provide identification tags.
- Review notes and correct discrepancies when differences occur; gather information not previously disclosed that would bear on moral or physical suitability for enlistment.
- Transmit fingerprints electronically to the investigating agency (Office of Personnel Management (OPM)/Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)); initiate background check.
- Screens applicant records to ascertain that all necessary documents are present according to the requirements of each military service.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Requires the skills of a qualified typist and the ability to utilize web‑based software systems.
- Employee may be required to work occasional Saturdays and/or shift work (before 0600 or after 1800 hours).
- Employee will routinely be required to work unscheduled overtime to accommodate fluctuations in workload based on daily mission requirements.
- Successful completion of applicable Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training is required in order to access the MHS GENESIS System within 30 days of onboarding.
- Enter data in Command automated system(s) to record applicant processing information.
- Transcribe data from numerous source documents completed by the applicant and/or military service representative.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience includes paid and unpaid work, volunteer activities, and other relevant experiences.
- Specialized
Experience:
One year of experience that includes utilizing office automation software to update account information, obtaining data from applicants, maintaining applicant records in an established filing system, and creating written correspondence with appropriate formatting. - Education: Four years of education above the high school level from an accredited business, secretarial, technical school, junior college, college, or university.
- Combination of
Education and Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used if the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. Compute the percentage by dividing total months of experience by 12 and adding the result to the percentage obtained by dividing semester hours of education beyond two years by 60. - Proficiency
Required:
Qualified typist – ability to type 40 words per minute with three or fewer errors in a 5‑minute sample.
Foreign education must be evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpreting foreign education programs and must be deemed equivalent to an accredited U.S. program, or full credit must be granted for courses at a U.S. accredited institution.
Additional Information- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre‑Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
