The Center for Statistics and Social Sciences (CSSS) has an outstanding opportunity for a Program Coordinator to join their team.
About this OpportunityReporting to the Center Administrator, the Program Coordinator supports the busy, cross-disciplinary CSSS community with research and instructional activities and resources. The Center for Statistics and the Social Sciences (CSSS) is looking for a full-time Program Coordinator to support the daily management of the Center’s operations. CSSS was founded in 1999 with the triple mission of galvanizing collaborative research between social scientists and statisticians, developing graduate courses for social science students, and enhancing undergraduate statistics training for the social sciences. CSSS was the first center in the nation devoted to the interface of statistics and social sciences.
Today, CSSS is an established component of the University of Washington’s research and training environment, with strong ties to the Statistics department, social science departments, and other units across campus. Currently, CSSS has four core faculty members, two faculty fellows, and over 100 faculty affiliates.
Main Office Services 30%
- Manage the CSSS space to maintain a welcoming, professional, and safe environment for the main office.
- Provide information and advice to students, staff, faculty, and the public on the Center’s programs and activities (in-person, phone, email, mail).
- Manage inventories (equipment, keys, email contact lists, office supplies) and related records. Troubleshoot issues as needed.
- Arrange communications with university shopsregardingfacilities changes, telecommunications changes, repairs, cleaning requests, etc.
- Maintain records and filesin accordance with departmental guidelines and UW policies.
Program Support 50%
With support from CSSS personnel,
- Produce and update departmentalcourseand time schedule, including CSSS and jointly held courses.
- Enter, verify, and update data to ensure accuracy.
- Communicate with faculty and staff in other departments to support CSSS programs.
- Create and edit CSSS communication materials including working with IT staff on updating the website, composing correspondence to affiliate faculty.
- Coordinate CSSS curriculum to manage CSSS-responsible courses and courses held jointly with a variety of departments both within the College of Arts and Sciences and outside the College.
- Produce and update quarterly time schedules. Enter, verify, and update data to ensure accuracy.
- Resolve classroom assignment issues as needed.
- Promote classes, order books and initiate course evaluations.
- Support students and faculty by providing information about CSSS tracks, course registration, distribution of add codes, and responding to questions about CSSS programs.
- Plan and organize the weekly CSSS seminar and other events including researching and reserving UW or off-site meeting facilities; coordinating, collecting, composing, editing, assembling, and distributing program and meeting materials; arranging posters, arranging meals, attending meetings and events to provide support as needed.
- Manage CSSS inbox and email contact lists for communicating with CSSS affiliates, students and staff in a variety of departments both within the College of Arts and Sciences and outside the College.
Fiscal Activities 15%
- Manage purchasing via Workday, Procurement Credit Card (Pro Card), and CTA card (for travel).
- Make travel arrangements for CSSS guests, including conference registration, airline and lodging arrangements. Manage travel reimbursements.
