Overview

A mission-driven organization is seeking a highly motivated Sourcing Specialist to support the development and commercialization of advanced, highly regulated technology programs. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and procurement and requires someone who can operate effectively in a high-ambiguity environment, including situations where formal systems or tools are limited. Success in this role depends on strong communication, organization, and creative problem-solving skills to keep sourcing activities moving forward.

Location

and Details

Location: Seattle, Washington (Hybrid – Onsite 3 days/week)

Duration: 6-month contract

Hourly Compensation: $45.00 to $55.00 per hour

Benefits: Three insurance levels, 401k match, plus working at a great company!

U.S. Person status required due to access to export-controlled information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate sourcing for both direct and indirect procurements, including requisitions, RFx/RFX processes, approvals, and supplier contracting.
  • Own BOM-to-RFx execution: receive Bills of Materials (BOMs), validate inputs, clarify requirements with engineering, and translate BOM line items into clear, complete RFx packages for suppliers.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and BOMs to support sourcing strategies for custom mechanical and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware.
  • Forecast demand, evaluate supplier capacity, and manage supply chain activities, including high-risk components, delivery performance, and material flow adjustments.
  • Develop and maintain a preferred supplier network to minimize cost, lead time, and risk; manage outsourced fabrication projects and vendor performance.
  • Negotiate effectively to maximize value, cost savings, and supply assurance while ensuring suppliers meet contractual obligations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, project management, and supply chain partners to align technical requirements, qualification needs, and schedules.
  • Create sourcing strategies, contribute to new processes and lightweight systems, and apply sound business judgment to solve complex procurement challenges, especially in environments where tooling and software are still evolving.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or 4–5 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of RFx/RFX processes, BOM management, demand planning, and lead-time analysis.
  • Experience working closely with engineering teams and interpreting technical requirements.
  • Proven track record of results in procurement or supply chain (e.g., cost savings, lead-time reduction, supplier performance improvements).
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and effective under pressure in fast-changing environments.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills across all levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and influence both vendor and internal decisions.
Nice to Have
  • Experience in aerospace, manufacturing, or building procurement processes from the ground up.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP concepts (BOMs, work orders, requisitions), even in partially implemented systems.
  • Knowledge of machining, sheet metal, coatings, and common fabrication processes.
  • APICS or Six Sigma certification a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in ambiguous environments and rapidly self-learn new tools and techniques.
