Compensation Range: $69,000 - $77,000 annually DOE
Job OverviewSCIDpda is seeking a Community Small Business Program Manager to lead the strategy and execution of economic development initiatives and programs that support small businesses in the Chinatown International District (CID). This role requires collaboration with SCIDpda staff, community-based organizations, and multiple funders to enhance small business access to resources, information, and programs. Working closely with the Director of Community Development, the manager will identify and implement programs based on direct outreach, community plans, and SCIDpda’s strategic plan.
Fluency in Cantonese or Mandarin is required, and the position demands strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Identify program direction and goals based on direct outreach & engagement with small businesses, community plans, and SCIDpda’s strategic plan.
- Manage grants, related budgets, deliverables, timelines, and reporting requirements that support small business staffing and programs.
- Maintain positive relationships with existing funders and program partners.
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities to sustain SCIDpda’s small business program.
- Collaborate with partners to gather, synthesize, translate, and disseminate relevant information to businesses via Mailchimp, WeChat, and SMS.
- Conduct in-person, email, phone, and text outreach to CID small businesses in support of strategic projects and responsive to owner needs.
- Track business needs, referrals, and services in the Salesforce small business database.
- Create and implement an engagement framework to measure community interest in future projects.
- Lead strategy, development, and maintenance of a small business database on Salesforce.
- Manage data quality and produce reports to meet grant reporting requirements and show trends.
- Collaborate with the CID Small Business Relief Team to improve data entry tools, organize events, and provide trainings.
- Coordinate Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) Improvement Project installations and reimbursements.
- Coordinate Façade Lighting Improvement Project installations and determine scope for neon lighting refurbishment.
- Organize Sound Transit information sessions for CID business owners and attend related meetings.
- Provide one‑on‑one outreach and grant application assistance as needed.
- Participate in working committees to advocate for neighborhood goals.
- Represent Community Initiatives at meetings, presentations, and public events.
- Work closely with city agencies, neighborhood organizations, and other institutions to direct resources to local businesses.
Skills and Abilities
- Competency in written Traditional and/or Simplified Chinese (required).
- Ability to translate short paragraphs from English to Chinese (required).
- Competency in conversational Cantonese and/or Mandarin (required).
- Experience with Salesforce or other CRM systems (highly desirable).
- Strong administrative, organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience managing multiple complex grants and budgets with funders.
- Ability to collaborate with diverse, sometimes contentious stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize, multi‑task, and work independently.
- Creative and strategic thinking to connect people and projects.
- Advanced computer skills in standard business software, e.g., MS Office Suite.
- Knowledge of the Chinatown International District neighborhood (highly desirable).
