Regulatory Compliance Specialist
Overview
This role sits at the intersection of engineering and compliance, supporting classification and export determinations for a wide range of aerospace technologies. You will work directly with engineers to evaluate technical data (drawings, BOMs, software, systems) and determine appropriate classifications under EAR and ITAR regulations. This is a fast-paced, high-visibility role where priorities shift quickly and decisions matter. You will not be limited to a single program or function;
instead, you will operate across the enterprise, supporting diverse engineering domains and global stakeholders.
- Perform export classifications (ECCN/ITAR) for aerospace technical data including drawings, materials, source code and engineering systems
- Partner directly with engineers to evaluate data, challenge assumptions and guide compliant decisions
- Support corporate investigations and compliance risk assessments
- Contribute to and improve export decision guides internal processes
- Navigate ambiguity balancing regulatory compliance with business needs
- Operate in a high-volume, fast-paced environment where priorities can shift quickly
- Collaborate with Global Trade Control and Legal teams on complex or high-risk cases
- Ability to challenge engineers constructively and defend compliance decisions
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-demand environments with competing priorities
- Proactively seek answers, build knowledge, and don’t wait for direction
- Strong communicator who can translate complex regulations into practical guidance
- Capable of balancing compliance requirements with business risk and execution needs
- Independently performs standard classifications by conducting an Order of Review
- Builds onward self-classifier status with mentor support
- Begins contributing to process improvements and documentation
- Work across the entire business unit and not limited to one program or discipline
- Gain exposure to a wide range of technologies from engineering drawings to software systems
- Engage with global teams and real-world compliance challenges
- Operates in a role where there is constant challenge, variety and impact
- Build both depth and breadth in export compliance and engineering integration
This is not a slow or highly structured role. You will be expected to:

AA degree in related discipline and typically 6 or more years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
