Strategic Project Manager, AWS Health & Safety

The AWS Health and Safety (H&S) team is an expanding, dynamic team that is critical to enabling AWS’s growth around the world, as well as ensuring compliance of AWS’s global operations, including physical data centers, as well as other AWS facilities, customer-facing enterprises and products. The H&S team has responsibility for architecting and implementing AWS’s global safety programs. This includes defining and implementing risk management and compliance systems and driving their continuous improvement;

setting and refining global policies and procedures; overseeing the development of standards, tools, auditing and metrics, and employee training; ensuring effective engagement by H&S teams on global initiatives, including those that are part of Amazon’s ambitious sustainability goals; providing specialist expertise; and engaging with all AWS business units to provide scalable and H&S compliance strategies that support current and future business objectives while ensuring employee safety and compliance with H&S regulations.

As a Strategic Project Manager, you will work across teams to collaborate, generate buy-in, develop and execute to a plan. You will drive the planning and execution of a diverse portfolio of projects with varying degrees of complexity, scale, and duration. You will play a crucial role in strategy implementation, fostering partnerships, and executing initiatives to enhance each project's reach and impact.

This entails serving as the main point of contact for stakeholders in coordinating and managing strategic, cross-functional, and business-critical projects.

The ideal candidate excels at planning and implementing diverse projects with agility, encompassing gap analysis, ideation, planning, implementation, and retrospectives in a dynamic and diverse business environment. Effective communication and project management skills are essential, enabling you to manage multiple competing priorities and coordinate work across teams. The successful candidate will be proficient at working with data to identify trends, identify improvement opportunities, and proactively define plans to realize these opportunities.

To be successful in this role, the candidate will effectively multitask and prioritize, utilize data to encourage decisions, and maintain a high level of independence. They will be comfortable working in a growing and ambiguous work environment as we constantly improve and innovate. The successful candidate must have solid written and verbal communications skills, the ability to influence stakeholders, and willingness to dive deep into details.

• Accountable for the overall Health & Safety strategic projects planning, communicate requirements, negotiate priorities, and define success metrics

• Continuously assess and prioritize action for multiple projects while driving results.
• Deliver clear and concise project updates and KPIs to leadership teams and effectively answer questions
