This recruitment is to fill a Special Duty Assignment and is open only to King County – Department of Local Services employees who are not currently on probation. This SDA position is anticipated to last 6 months.

The Road Services Division of King County's Department of Local Services presents this unique opportunity to join Roads' Project/Program Support team as a Road Log Manager (Project/Program Manager II). We are a highly collaborative unit within the Strategic Business Operations Section, with responsibilities that support a growing number of programs and projects within the Division as well as the Department.

About the Road Services Division - King County, Washington

Applying equity, racial, and social justice principles is a daily responsibility and a foundational expectation for all King County employees. In this role, you will apply equity and social justice principles that exemplify shared values, behaviors, and practices to all aspects of the work.

  • Administer and oversee the King County GIS-Mo asset management system in accordance with County Road Administration Board (CRAB) and related state regulations.
  • Prepare and manage documents affecting the County's Road Log including updates to the road network and geometry.
  • Coordinate across work groups to complete GIS-Mo updates to traffic studies, ADT results, truck routes, and other data requests from CRAB.
  • Perform road rating and data input into GIS-Mo, including uploading/download and error interpretation.
  • Generate Road Rating Status Reports and understand how ratings are being used for decision-making.
  • Monitor data quality and take corrective action.
  • Create and resolve incomplete audit trail documentation.
  • Work with CRAB business and development teams as needed to meet regulatory and reporting requirements.
  • Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, public administration or closely related field OR any combination of education, skills, training, and experience that clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position.

  • Demonstrated experience interpreting construction as-built plans, legal descriptions, and project stationing and mile posts.
  • Ability to facilitate cross-functional discussions, resolve conflicts, find resolutions, and make decisions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and collaborate with work groups or individuals throughout the agency.
  • Basic GIS skills and moderate to advanced computer database skills, including manipulating and retrieving data and creating or generating dynamic reports.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Pavement Surface Condition Manual and distinctions between rating methods.
  • Driven by self-motivation and possesses keen attention to detail.
  • Adept at making meaningful contributions as an integral team member while also excelling independently.
  • Possess cultural awareness and be comfortable having complex and challenging discussions about equity, race, and diversity in the workplace; demonstrates a strong commitment to fostering connections and unity.
