Overview

A Seattle-based family-owned construction leader is hiring a Senior Painting Estimator to run preconstruction for its commercial painting division. You will decide what gets bid, how it is priced, and how awarded work moves from plans to profit. You will also mentor two junior estimators while working closely with operations to deliver high-quality, profitable projects across the Seattle market. They are looking for a proven commercial painting estimator who wants ownership, impact, and the chance to lead a growing team.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $130,000 / Year DOE.

Responsibilities
  • Lead all painting estimates for projects ranging from $25K to $10M
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from drawings, specs, and addenda
  • Analyze scopes, identify gaps, and assess risk before bids go out
  • Build bid strategies with company leadership
  • Solicit, compare, and level supplier and subcontractor pricing
  • Value-engineer projects and provide alternate pricing when needed
  • Maintain cost history, bid logs, and estimating databases
  • Manage awarded projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Handle submittals, material orders, change orders, and billing support
  • Visit job sites and resolve field issues with the Paint Superintendent
  • Mentor and develop two junior estimators
Requirements
  • 7+ years estimating commercial painting projects
  • Experience bidding projects from $25K to $10M
  • Deep knowledge of coatings, surface prep, production rates, and systems
  • Proficiency in Buzz Bid, On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, or similar tools
  • Advanced Excel and strong analytical skills
  • Experience with negotiated and hard-bid work
  • Ability to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines
  • Experience leading or mentoring junior staff
  • Working knowledge of project management
