As a Project Engineer at Gen Cap Construction Corp, you will support the successful delivery of mixed-use construction projects through effective coordination, documentation, quality control, and communication. This role plays a critical role in supporting field operations, cost management, procurement, and project controls to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Project Documentation & Coordination- Interpret and apply project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and field teams
- Support implementation of the preconstruction and construction quality plans
- Assist in obtaining and maintaining required construction permits; coordinate fee payments with the Project Manager as needed
- Develop, maintain, and track project logs and documentation, including: submittal log, material tracking log, test and inspection log, concrete placement logs, non-conformance reports
- Manage creation, distribution, and organization of contract documents
- Establish and follow document control procedures for RFIs, submittals, correspondence, and revisions
- Support project closeout processes, including as-builts, O&M manuals, warranties, and final documentation
- Support implementation of the three-phase inspection process
- Coordinate testing and inspection activities in alignment with the construction quality management program
- Maintain inspection schedules, reporting formats, and documentation
- Promptly notify the Project Manager and Superintendent of non-conforming work or failed inspections
- Set up and maintain the submittal register in accordance with contract requirements
- Coordinate submittal preparation, review, packaging, and processing with subcontractors and suppliers
- Prepare and distribute project-specific transmittals
- Track approvals and ensure material procurement aligns with the project schedule
- Communicate submittal requirements clearly to subcontractors and suppliers
- Coordinate subcontractor documentation including insurance, compliance paperwork, and closeout requirements
- Draft, track, and distribute RFIs and responses
- Support change order documentation and scope clarification
- Assist with posting and tracking document revisions
- Collect and incorporate subcontractor as-built documentation into project records
- Support the Superintendent and Project Manager with daily coordination needs
- Assist in resolving constructability and coordination issues
- Help track schedules, milestones, and action items through completion
- Support jobsite safety compliance and documentation
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including lessons learned, process improvements, and team feedback
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support project and team success
- Lead by example through professionalism, accountability, and collaboration
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving and sound judgment
- May assist with mentoring and supporting entry-level Project Engineers or Field Engineers
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Working knowledge of construction means, methods, and sequencing
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong teamwork, initiative, and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction-related software (e.g., document control and project management platforms)
- Professional demeanor with strong customer service orientation
- Adaptable and open to feedback
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Demonstrates curiosity, accountability, and a desire to grow within construction operations
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil or Architectural Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Typically 0-3 years of experience in commercial or multifamily construction, including internships or co-op experience
This position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, lift, and work on active construction jobsites, with or without reasonable accommodation. Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, noise, dust, and uneven terrain is expected, as well as work in office and climate-controlled environments. Frequent jobsite walks are required.
COMPENSATIONSalary Range: $80,000 - $97,000 per year plus annual bonus potential
