JOB TITLE: Traveling Construction Superintendent - Western Washington ANTICIPATED COMPENSATION: $,000 (including performance bonuses)

Millig Design Build is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to plan, manage, and execute onsite construction operations for our design‑build projects across multiple markets. This position serves as the field leader responsible for managing the daily jobsite operations while fostering a culture centered on safety, quality, collaboration, and operational excellence.

LOCATION: Candidates must be able to travel and work on projects in rural western Washington & will be eligible for routine travel home.

Primary Responsibilities:

Safety
  • Champions and models an injury‑free jobsite culture through personal leadership, mentorship, and visible presence.
  • Manages, prepares, and implements project specific safety plans with support from Project Manager and Millig Leadership.
  • Leads by example to establish expectation for the safety culture and alignment with Millig’s safety program.
  • Promotes proactive hazard identification and enforces compliance with all safety regulations and company protocols.
  • Manages safety orientation program, ensuring participation and documentation for every worker on the project site.
  • Ensures compliance with all OSHA, company, and site‑specific safety requirements.
  • Manages weekly site safety walk‑throughs, ensures documentation and corrective actions are immediately resolved.
  • Coordinates or delivers all safety meetings and job box talks.
Project Planning
  • Engages in preconstruction planning efforts and assists in developing execution strategies.
  • Works in coordination with Millig leadership to determine appropriate staffing plans.
  • Participates in subcontractor onboarding and scope clarification discussions.
  • Understands and enforces contractual obligations throughout construction.
  • Engages in Risk Assessment Matrix review prior to mobilization.
  • Continually identifies and proactively manages scope risks, delays & issues, ensures execution of corrective action plans up to closure.
  • Reviews submittal log throughout construction; closely tracks critical path equipment and materials.
Field Operations Management
  • Oversees the complete site security, quality, coordination, and control of the project field operations.
  • Develops and implements detailed work plans for subcontractors to establish efficient sequencing and project flow.
  • Creates, manages, and adjusts project schedules in partnership with the Project Manager.
  • Manages material procurement, equipment needs, and logistics.
  • Coordination and physical oversight of material and equipment deliveries; verifies materials and equipment are correct and manages resolution of incorrect deliveries.
  • Leads site project coordination meetings with subcontractors; drafts & distributes meeting agendas & minutes.
  • Physical inspection of the installed work to confirm the quality meets Millig standards, including the documentation and management of correction of deficiencies.
  • Review and catalog of subcontractor Daily Logs.
  • Develops and maintains master Daily Log in project management software.
  • Organizes & maintains all project field‑to‑office and office‑to‑field documents in construction management software.
  • Ensures that the project is secure after each shift and all tools, materials, and equipment are returned and secured for customer occupancy.
  • Coordinates & actively participates in required inspections with Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
  • Assists in field startup of equipment using standard start up and checkout processes, and correction of commissioning issues with subcontractors.
  • Manages subcontractors to document and execute project closeout activities in a timely manner.
Required

Qualifications & Skills:
  • 7+ years of experience as a Construction Superintendent for an HVAC, Electrical, or General Contractor
  • Deep understanding of onsite management and documentation practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with our clients, design team, subcontractors, and suppliers.
