Project Manager – Heavy Civil Construction
Location: Seattle, WA
Work Setting: 100% Onsite (50% Office / 50% Field)
Employment Type: Full-Time
OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in Heavy Civil Construction to oversee infrastructure and civil construction projects from preconstruction through project closeout. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience managing field operations, budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and client coordination within large-scale civil construction environments.
Responsibilities- Manage heavy civil construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout and punch list completion
- Oversee daily project operations across both office and field environments
- Develop, maintain, and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports
- Process owner billing, subcontractor pay estimates, invoice approvals, and quantity reconciliation
- Track project financial performance to ensure adherence to budget and schedule goals
Develop and update project schedules using Primavera P6, Primavera Contractor, or equivalent CPM scheduling tools - Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, field personnel, and project stakeholders
- Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, material procurement, and submittal logs
- Process change orders, time & material tickets, and extra work authorizations
- Monitor construction progress, productivity, quality, and safety compliance
- Conduct site visits and maintain strong communication between field and office teams
- Mentor and supervise Project Engineers and junior staff as needed
- Ensure successful delivery of civil infrastructure projects while maintaining client satisfaction
- Minimum 6 years of professional experience within the construction industry
- Strong background in Heavy Civil Construction projects
- Experience managing projects involving one or more of the following:
- Roads/highways
- Bridges
- Utilities
- Excavation/grading
- Earthwork
- Water/wastewater infrastructure
- Experience with project budgeting, forecasting, cost controls, and owner billing
- Proficiency with Primavera P6, Primavera Contractor, or equivalent scheduling software
- Strong understanding of subcontractor management, change orders, RFIs, and construction documentation
- Ability to work effectively in both office and active construction site environments
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Must be fully comfortable working in a 100% onsite environment in Seattle, WA
- Must be willing to split time between office and field locations (50/50)
- Must possess permanent legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship requirements
- Must have valid driver’s license and ability to travel between project sites
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
- Experience working for large heavy civil or infrastructure contractors
- Experience managing DOT or public infrastructure projects
- Experience mentoring Project Engineers or field staff
