Morgner is seeking an experienced Resident Engineer (RE) to manage and direct construction management staff for a major infrastructure bridge project. The RE will serve as the Owner’s representative and primary point of contact with the contractor, providing leadership across all construction activities, including structural and foundation elements.
Key Responsibilities Construction Management & Contract Administration- Manage and direct CM staff in accordance with applicable construction manuals and agency procedures
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all contractor correspondence
- Ensure CM staff understand and comply with contract requirements
- Lead weekly construction progress meetings and coordination meetings
- Assign and oversee inspectors; monitor performance and documentation
- Provide oversight of construction activities related to:
- Bridge foundations (piles, drilled shafts)
- Review and coordinate:
- Structural submittals and shop drawings
- Construction sequencing and means & methods
- Ensure construction aligns with:
- Design intent
- Structural specifications and tolerances
- Coordinate closely with:
- Geotechnical team
- Contractor’s structural staff
- Monitor risks related to:
- Load transfer and foundation performance
- Settlement and structural stability
- Interface between foundation and superstructure systems
- Identify potential change issues and manage:
- Change notices
- Change orders
- Claims and negotiations
- Review and approve:
- Inspector Daily Reports (IDRs)
- Progress payments
- RFIs and submittals
- Monitor contractor compliance with:
- Safety programs
- Environmental and regulatory requirements
- Ensure adherence to:
- Project controls procedures
- Document control requirements
- Track and report:
- Cost and schedule performance
- Construction risks and mitigation strategies
- Oversee project closeout activities, including transition to operations
- 20+ years of experience in heavy civil / infrastructure construction
- Experience as a Resident Engineer, Construction Manager, or Senior Project Manager
- Strong experience with:
- Structural construction (foundations + bridge systems)
- Contract administration and contractor oversight
- Change management and claims resolution
- Experience in Design-Build or GCCM environments
- Experience with:
- Bridge construction over water or in constrained urban environments
- Familiarity with agency construction manuals and QA/QC procedures
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
