We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of commercial construction projects. This role is ideal for an early-career professional looking to grow into a Project Manager position while gaining hands-on experience across all phases of construction.
The Assistant Project Manager will work closely with the project team to plan, coordinate, and execute projects, while developing expertise in estimating, contract administration, scheduling, and cost control.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Execution
- Assist in planning, estimating, and managing commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
- Support Project Managers in tracking schedules, budgets, and key milestones to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to support procurement and ensure timely delivery of materials
- Prepare, review, and maintain project documentation including contracts, drawings, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and progress reports
- Assist with contract preparation, budget tracking, invoicing, and change management
- Maintain accurate and organized project records
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress, verify quality, and help resolve field issues
- Coordinate subcontractor activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements
- Assist with punch list completion and project closeout
- Support review of architectural and engineering plans for constructability, cost efficiency, and compliance
- Help ensure adherence to building codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Assist in defining design criteria based on project or tenant needs
- Schedule and participate in recurring project meetings to track progress and address issues
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders
- Contribute to process improvements and implementation of best practices to enhance project efficiency
- 2+ years of experience in commercial construction or project coordination
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Self-starter with a collaborative mindset
Skills:
- Proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction management software
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project)
- Understanding of construction processes, safety standards, and building codes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to work in an active construction environment, including walking on uneven terrain, climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and safely operate basic construction tools and equipment
- Ability to climb ladders and access elevated areas (up to 25 feet)
- Willingness to travel to job sites as required and comply with all PPE and safety regulations
- Exposure to a wide range of commercial construction projects
