Stantec's program management construction management group is seeking a construction manager to work on large, complex transportation construction projects with construction values more than $500M. Your key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing all phases of large, complex construction projects serving as a client liaison and leading project teams.
- Engaging in the construction management community, mentoring staff, and documenting lessons learned.
- Supporting recruitment by screening candidates, interviewing, and collaborating with HR on employment offers.
- Supervising design-phase constructability and sequencing reviews.
- Managing bid phase activities: pre-bid meetings, contractor inquiries, addenda issuance, bid evaluations, and award recommendations.
- Directing preconstruction planning, approving procedures and tools, and reviewing contract documents for construction phase readiness.
- Managing multiple large, complex projects simultaneously.
- Overseeing day-to-day construction management to ensure compliance with design, budget, and schedule; enforcing contractor compliance.
- Acting as a liaison with clients, agencies, and stakeholders; representing the company at meetings and public forums.
- Monitoring contractor schedules and addressing delays.
- Reviewing inspection reports, material test reports, RFIs, submittals, schedules, shop drawings, change orders, and pay applications for accuracy and compliance.
- Coordinating activities across disciplines and resolving project issues promptly.
- Implementing and enforcing company, client, and project policies, procedures, best practices, standards, quality frameworks, and proper use of IP and reusable assets.
- Promoting and ensuring adherence to company and client health and programs.
- Overseeing post-construction closeout, including final deliverables, punch lists, warranties, and invoicing.
- Highly effective in assembling and leading project teams.
- Technical expert in all relevant areas of planning, analysis, construction and systems management, and understanding of various project delivery methods.
- Accountable for making decisions on large complex projects.
- Inspires project teams to higher levels of achievement.
- Highly effective in managing sub-consultants and equipment suppliers/vendors.
- Demonstrates technical skills identifying scope changes and risk management.
Education and experience:
- Professional engineering (PE) licensure is required. Construction manager certification (CCM) is an asset.
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or other related engineering field is required.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience, including experience working on large, complex transit projects with construction value more than $500M.
- Minimum 4 to 5 years of experience successfully executing technical aspects of a wide range of medium to complex projects, including alternate project delivery (APD).
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
