Construction Manager, Grocery & Development

Amazon's Worldwide Grocery & Development, Physical Retail division is seeking a Construction Manager to manage various retail construction and renovation/remodel projects across the country. This is an entrepreneurial, high‑impact role within a fast‑moving, growing business team that requires dedication, cross‑functional collaboration, and the ability to deliver high‑quality work at scale.

As a member of the team, you will collaborate cross‑functionally between Store Design, Store Operations, Facilities, Technology, Security, Loss Prevention, and Amazon vendors.

• Manage multiple construction and renovation projects simultaneously, effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners, contractors, and vendors.
• Establish and maintain project schedules and budgets; responsible for overall project delivery including all FF&E and construction.
• Deliver projects on time and on budget across a geographically distributed national portfolio.
• Manage high‑volume project portfolios (200+ projects simultaneously) with quick response to emerging priorities, maintaining on‑time delivery across all active work streams.
• Autonomously drive large‑scale, multi‑site program from initiation through closeout with minimal oversight, balancing competing priorities across a national portfolio.

• Develop and execute capital planning strategies and life‑cycle replacement schedules for critical building equipment (HVAC, refrigeration, controls, lighting, fire/life safety systems) to maximize asset performance and minimize unplanned downtime.
• Partner with Critical Infrastructure and Facilities teams to align capital investment with equipment condition assessments, R&M spend reduction targets, and long‑term asset preservation goals.
• Lead proactive capital investment strategies to reduce Repair & Maintenance expenditures and extend the operational life of critical systems.

• Leverage project data, cost analytics, and performance metrics to inform decision‑making, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement across the program.
• Work with financial and operational data to drive high‑volume program autonomously, surfacing insights to leadership and adjusting priorities in real time.
• Participate in the design development process to collaborate and value‑engineer construction methods to reduce time and cost.

• Provide on‑site supervision during the construction process, including management of General Contractors and Owner vendors.
• Manage change order negotiations and contract compliance, adhering to AIA contract documentation processes.
• Ensure contractor compliance with life safety/OSHA requirements on all job sites to minimize risk.
• Serve as the liaison to developer/landlord representatives to coordinate building envelope delivery.
• Establish effective relationships and an understanding of municipalities and permit processes.
• Lead job site meetings, produce minutes, and strive for a collaborative team environment.

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field

• Experience in building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision‑making, or experience in relevant finance roles
• 4+ years of project management, real estate development, or architecture/design experience
