Job SummaryThe Construction Manager supports the Site Manager in the delivery of Construction Management services for a brownfield coal-to-gas power plant conversion project executed through multiple owner‑held construction contracts. Working within an active operating facility, the Construction Manager provides daily field leadership and coordination of contractor activities to support safe, efficient, and predictable project execution.
The Construction Manager serves as a primary interface between contractors, project controls, engineering, commissioning, operations, and the Construction Management team. The role is responsible for monitoring contractor performance, coordinating field activities, identifying and resolving execution issues, and ensuring alignment with project safety, quality, schedule, and operational requirements.
Construction will be performed by a combination of union and non‑union contractors under client‑managed contracts. This position does not include responsibility for direct management of self‑perform craft labor or contractor workforce supervision, but focuses on contractor oversight, coordination, and construction assurance activities on behalf of the Owner. The role aligns with BV construction management responsibilities involving contractor coordination, schedule oversight, quality management, and stakeholder interface activities.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Site Manager in execution of all on‑site Construction Management activities.
- Coordinate daily construction activities across multiple owner‑held contracts and work fronts.
- Monitor contractor performance related to safety, quality, productivity, staffing, and schedule compliance.
- Lead daily coordination meetings, plan‑of‑the‑day meetings, and contractor interface meetings.
- Coordinate field execution activities between contractors, engineering, commissioning, plant operations, and project stakeholders.
- Identify field constraints, interface issues, access conflicts, and operational impacts, and facilitate timely resolution.
- Support implementation of outage, tie‑in, energization, and brownfield execution plans.
- Review contractor schedules, look‑ahead plans, manpower forecasts, and progress reporting.
- Verify construction progress and assist with validation of contractor payment applications, change orders, and field change requests.
- Monitor construction quality and support inspection, testing, turnover, and system completion activities.
