Safety Worxs is seeking an experienced
Health & Safety Specialist to support the high-profile Dam project in Washington. This is a field-focused safety role supporting construction operations and ensuring compliance with project safety requirements,
EM 385-1-1, OSHA regulations, and established safety procedures.

The position will initially support the project on its current schedule and is expected to transition to night shift over time
. The ideal candidate has hands-on construction safety experience, is comfortable working independently in the field, and can effectively identify hazards and work with project teams to implement corrective actions.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily jobsite safety inspections and identify, document, and assist with correcting hazards and unsafe conditions.
  • Support implementation of project safety programs in accordance with EM 385-1-1, OSHA, and project-specific requirements.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of project-specific safety plans and hazard mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and document Daily Risk Assessments (DRAs) and other required safety documentation.
  • Participate in daily coordination meetings, pre-task planning, and safety discussions.
  • Monitor field activities and reinforce safe work practices with employees and subcontractors.
  • Identify safety equipment and material needs for upcoming work activities.
  • Assist with incident investigations, documentation, root-cause identification, and corrective actions.
  • Provide first aid and emergency response support as needed.
  • Monitor subcontractor compliance and assist with resolving safety deficiencies.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety meetings, and field safety briefings.
  • Maintain accurate inspection, observation, incident, and corrective-action records.
  • Track safety observations and identify recurring hazards or trends requiring additional attention.
  • Partner with project leadership and field teams to promote a proactive safety culture.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of construction safety experience required.
  • Working knowledge of EM 385-1-1 requirements.
  • EM 385-1-1 40-Hour certification required or ability to obtain.
  • CPR/First Aid certification required or ability to obtain.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of construction hazards, equipment, methods, and safe work practices.
  • Ability to recognize, evaluate, and recommend controls for jobsite hazards.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in an active construction environment.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities, and follow through with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be willing and able to transition to night shift as project needs evolve.
