Position Overview
Bonneville Seattle, home to KIRO Newsradio 97.3, Seattle Sports, 770 KTTH and , is currently seeking a skilled, dependable Board Operator to operate the technical side of our broadcast operations. This part‑time role (Monday‑Friday 5:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.) will operate the studio console ensuring technically excellent and flawlessly timed content compliant with FCC requirements.
The Board Operator will provide clerical and operations assistance to assure smooth airing of live, pre‑recorded and/or automated programming, including reliable, timely, error‑free delivery of terrestrial radio and digital media programming, adherence to commercial logs, and contribution of digital content for Bonneville Seattle Media Group.
What You Will Do- Operate the on‑air console, maintaining accurate transmitter and program logs, airing commercials per program logs, airing emergency alerts, recording satellite feeds, and ensuring transmitter operation complies with FCC parameters.
- Ensure all audio elements are problem free before air, update discrepancy reports, and monitor clock to provide cues to talent.
- Become an expert at our audio console, Adobe Editing, News Boss, and Zetta.
- Edit and post daily podcasts, pull show video clips, and coordinate appropriate mix of music and sound.
- Screen calls professionally and manage show‑related content, including creating/editing a “best of” library.
- Provide on‑air commentary when required, cross‑train teammates, and fill in for other shifts as needed.
- High school education or equivalent.
- Proven accuracy, follow‑through, and multitasking in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet on‑air deadlines.
- Ability to understand and execute format philosophy and work collaboratively to create a distinctive sound.
- Ability to accept direction, be flexible with changes, and communicate effectively with co‑workers.
- Ability to work under pressure, handle responsibilities, and deliver broadcast material on time.
- Reliability and willingness to work scheduled hours, including flexible coverage for last‑minute needs.
- Ability to work under moderate supervision while resolving varied problems with general knowledge of company policies and procedures.
- Experience operating broadcast equipment and possessing basic production skills (preferred).
- One (1+) year commercial broadcast experience or equivalent (preferred).
- Proficiency in sound production and audio editing (Pro Tools, Adobe Audition, Audacity) (preferred).
- Highly creative use of sound, production elements, and show ideas (preferred).
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Manual dexterity to operate computer keys and general office equipment.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction with good eye and hand coordination.
$21.70 – $23.34 hourly. Rate determined by evaluation of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities along with internal and external benchmarks.
