Fox TV Stations (FOX Television Stations) owns and operates 29 full‑power broadcast television stations in the U.S., including affiliates in 14 of the top 15 largest DMAs and duopolies in 11 DMAs. 18 of the stations are affiliated with the FOX Network, and collectively the stations produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news each week.
Job TitleNewscast Director
Responsibilities- Collaborate effectively and professionally with on‑air staff, off‑air staff, production and technical crews, and management to deliver clean and engaging newscasts.
- Lead implementation of new concepts and ideas for newscasts.
- Establish quality control and a consistent look across all technical operational positions.
- Manage post‑show review, troubleshooting, and technical problem‑solving.
- Take responsibility for all equipment issued by FOX.
- Write and produce news segments.
- Shoot and edit video.
- Comply with all FOX Corporate computer requirements and all FOX Corporate and station policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Deep understanding of innovative production concepts that engage viewers.
- Deep understanding of technical skills in Inews, coding in Over Drive, and automation.
- Deep understanding of a technical Calrec switcher board.
- Ability to lead, thrive under pressure, and creatively deliver fast‑paced news shows.
- Ability to direct unscripted moments such as breaking news and other live events.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills.
- Ability to work under daily pressure and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Two (2) years of experience directing live daily newscasts on an automation system. Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Radio/TV, or a related discipline preferred.
Physical RequirementsProlonged periods sitting at a desk and working at a computer; regularly standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, and talking or hearing; occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; regular lifting or moving up to 10 pounds; vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus; ability to use tools, manipulate small parts, and make minute adjustments to controls requiring fine finger movements;
must be able to affix a wireless microphone to staff and interviewees.
$38.00‑$40.00 per hour, with the final offer dependent on education, skills, experience, and location.
