KING 5 News in Seattle is looking for a Morning Show Producer who will hit the ground running to elevate our #1 ranked morning newscasts. We’re looking for a producer who embraces bold decisions and a strong commitment to breaking news. We’re also seeking a journalist specializing in urgent, engaging, and energetic newscasts. The successful candidate will be a driven, tenacious, and creative producer with excellent writing skills.

We are looking for a leader who isn’t afraid of taking risks and prioritizes breaking news.

Responsibilities
  • Craft compelling newscasts that embrace breaking news, enterprise content, emotion, and showcasing
  • Work directly with the Executive Producer, anchors, & news leaders to consistently build a high-quality news show
  • Be a leader in the newsroom
  • Demonstrate strong news judgement and understand the tenants of ethical journalism
  • Be aggressive covering breaking news and manage the newscast’s timing
  • Produce unique content for multi-platforms, including broadcast and digital
  • Write accurate, urgent and engaging copy
  • Calmly handle live and breaking news in the control room
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience
  • At least 2 years producing experience in a medium or large market
  • Strong news judgement and use of analytics to make bold editorial decisions.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Shifts could include overnight hours, holidays and weekends
  • Knowledge of ENPS, Edius, editing and content management systems are a plus

Pay Range: $29.81 to $36.06 USD

Our 401(k) program offers full, part‑time and temporary employees the opportunity to contribute 1%‑80% of their pay on a pre‑tax basis to TEGNA’s 401(k). Contributions made up to the first 4% of pay are eligible for a 100% match from the company and are 100% vested from day one.

Regardless of participation in TEGNA medical plans, ALL employees and their eligible family members receive nine free virtual doctor’s appointments with a physician through Teladoc, and 12 free annual therapy sessions with a licensed clinician through Spring Health.

TEGNA offers a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) benefit as well as nine paid holidays per year.

Some jobs are covered by a collective bargaining agreement and thus some or all of the benefits described herein may not apply. For example, some newsroom bargaining unit employees receive health and retirement benefits under plans administered by the union.
