KING 5 is looking for a highly creative and experienced News Photojournalist to join our national award‑winning Investigative Unit. Qualified candidates must create high‑quality content within challenging news deadlines. We are seeking an individual with strong organizational skills who can also work as a de‑facto producer within the unit. The successful candidate will be someone who can take strong ownership of the investigative product.
This is an IATSE‑union represented position.
Responsibilities- Capture video and audio elements to craft compelling and impactful investigative news for both our linear and streaming platforms.
- Collaborate with reporters to develop a cohesive vision for stories.
- Demonstrate high proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere, After Effects, & Photoshop) to create compelling visual graphics.
- Independently gather and create stories, showcasing creativity and journalistic prowess.
- Generate digital content and edit vertical videos daily for our digital and streaming apps.
- Produce streaming specials, including creating dynamic bold opens, back‑timing shows, and organizing break structures.
- Operate live remote equipment (Dejero, LiveU).
Minimum Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant experience in TV photojournalism and/or news editing, OR 3+ years of relevant experience coupled with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license, with the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. occasionally up to 80 pounds, with or without accommodation.
- Flexibility to work mornings, nights, holidays, and weekends.
- FAA Part 107 Pilot’s license with experience operating a drone for news gathering.
- Competency in operating mirrorless cameras (Sony FS7 and a7s series).
We are offering competitive pay along with benefits. This position is full‑time, hourly, and IATSE union. Compensation Range: $35.86 – $40.76 hourly.
