Housing Connector is looking for a Senior Product Designer to be the first dedicated design hire and lead end-to-end product design across customer-facing products, internal tools, and brand assets. This is a full-time, hybrid role in Seattle, WA
, with at least one day per week in the Seattle office. Salary range:
USD 125, per year.

What you’ll do

You’ll take ownership of design from early problem framing through user flows, interaction and visual design, implementation support, and release, while maintaining a consistent and cohesive experience across the product surface.

  • Own end-to-end product design for customer-facing products, including problem framing, user flows, interaction and visual design, implementation, and release.
  • Build the design foundation by creating reusable components
    , interaction patterns, and design standards to improve consistency.
  • Develop a deep understanding of users using research, behavioral data, qualitative insights
    , and close collaboration with teams that work with them.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to turn priority problems into feasible solutions, communicate design reasoning and tradeoffs, and help ensure what ships matches the intended experience.
  • Apply design judgment
    , accessibility
    , and systems thinking to support evidence-driven decisions.
  • Design for varied needs and experiences, including differences in digital literacy

    , device access
    , and accessibility

What you bring
  • Experience owning end-to-end product design for shipped software, from problem definition through release.
  • Strong product, interaction, and visual design skills, with the ability to move between systems thinking and detailed execution.
  • Ability to use user research
    , qualitative insights, and product data to inform design decisions.
  • Experience turning ambiguous problems into clear solutions and communicating reasoning and tradeoffs.
  • Experience building or substantially extending a design system
    , component library, or reusable design framework.
  • Experience collaborating directly with software engineers throughout the development process.
  • Figma proficiency, including components, variants, auto layout, and interactive prototyping.
  • A portfolio showing product thinking, interaction and visual design, and meaningful end-to-end ownership.

Especially relevant experience
  • Design experience with two-sided or multi-sided products, complex workflows, operational platforms, or administrative tools.
  • Experience as an early or first designer who helped establish a design practice.
  • Experience designing accessible products for people with differing language, literacy, technology access, or accessibility needs.
  • Experience in social impact, public sector, healthcare, housing, or environments where product decisions can have meaningful consequences for users.
  • No prior housing experience required. You can learn Housing Connector’s housing systems, partner landscape, internal systems, and impact model.
