Lead Park Concierge

Position Summary

Working outside with a strong customer service skill set, you will serve as the Lead Park Concierge for Seattle’s downtown parks in partnership with Associated Recreation Council (ARC) and Seattle Parks and Recreation. Your role includes welcoming visitors, providing information, ensuring safety, and helping to maintain a vibrant public space.

Expected Work Hours

The shift is either Sunday through Thursday or Thursday through Monday, depending on your availability.

  • June – September: 10am – 6:30pm plus many evening events
  • October: 10am – 5:30pm plus some evening events
  • November – March: 10am – 4:30pm plus an event or two
  • April – May: 10am – 5:30pm plus an event or two
Locations Served

Downtown and surrounding parks, including Ballard Commons, City Hall, Hing Hay Park, Denny Park, and Pioneer Square Park.

Lead Park Concierge Duties and Responsibilities Mentorship / Supervision
  • Mentor Park Concierge staff in professional development
  • Assist in onboarding new Concierges
  • Perform supervisory duties in absence of the Park Concierge Supervisor
  • Monitor concierges’ activities and work assignments in city parks
  • Handle morning texts and emails when the Supervisor is off, on vacation or on LOA
Operations
  • Activate the Park Concierge team in parks
  • Oversee and set up bistro tables, chairs, umbrellas, pop‑up tents, and activities
  • Manage kiosk operations
  • Assist with program and event management
  • Pick up litter and maintain park cleanliness
  • Report maintenance and equipment issues
  • Manage and set up sound systems for performers, movies, and events
  • Provide support and equipment to buskers, ensuring safety and compliance with emergency procedures
  • Coordinate with Park Rangers and Seattle Police Department to report illegal activity
  • Count park usage at different times and report data
  • Oversee set‑up and breakdown of events/activations (staging, tents, signage, audio/video)
  • Track event attendees, on‑site media, sponsor and talent feedback, and take photos
  • Ensure event areas are clean before and after scheduled events
  • Locate and remove graffiti from assets; report for removal
  • Complete set‑up/breakdown duties such as sweeping, garbage removal, and equipment set‑up
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Customer Service
  • Interact with park patrons and conduct surveys when requested
  • Provide information on city destinations and events
  • Act as on‑site public relations representative for Seattle Parks and Recreation and neighborhood groups
  • De‑escalate and redirect patrons when required
  • Observe and report any issues to the appropriate agency
  • Provide first response and communication for medical issues
  • Communicate park needs and damaged equipment to supervisors
  • Report clean‑‑up and facility problems to coworkers and supervisors
Safety and Risk Management
  • Mentor team on routine disruptions, emergencies, and catastrophic disasters
  • Exercise judgment and involve supervisor on sensitive issues
  • Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, rules, standards, and compliance requirements
  • Clean and sanitize bistro furniture and other equipment and supplies
  • Ensure Concierges follow law enforcement and emergency personnel instructions

Requirements Park Concierge Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent education and experience
  • 2+ years of experience in event planning, ambassadorship, or related field (desired)
  • Previous event and/or customer service experience (strongly preferred)
  • Experience in parks or outdoor venues (preferred)
  • Current Red Cross First‑Aid/CPR certification (preferred)
  • Experience working with diverse communities and unhoused populations (preferred)
  • Prior supervisory experience (preferred)
  • Experience leading groups or teams, providing guidance, mentoring, coaching (required)

  • Minimum age 21 years
  • Current Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification…
